This wonderful medieval festival is held in the town of Saint Macaire on 26th August 2017. It is a perfect setting for a festival as the town has been designated a heritage town owing to its imposing ramparts, elegant mansions and narrow winding streets.

The event includes street shows, exhibits and a medieval banquet f or both children and adults. Cultural events, activities for children and families, and a fiesta are other features of this festival.

 Estuary Medieval Festival

Participants dressed as knights during the Estuary Medieval Festival

The wonderfully evocative Estuary Medieval Festival will be held on the 2nd & 3rd September 2017. This is a grand festival that is held every two years in Bourg-sur-Gironde where the participants travel back to the medieval ages, to around 700 years ago, where there were kings, queens, lords, knights and castles.

The festival includes traditional trade workshops that teach you the art of working with metal, ropes, wicker, rope, wool and wood. The craft fair includes the art of making crafts of yesteryears. Several other activities like costume contests, pony rides, testing for courage, and where children become kings and queens, make the festival almost magical. You will be acquainted with 80 animations that will intoxicate your sense of sound, words, images, smell and tastes of a bygone era.

This year’s medieval festival and book fair will also be enjoyed by those who are hard of hearing by using the LSF.

There will be mediators who will accompany these people to the craft market, literary salon and the workshops helping them enjoy the festival. This is a novelty that has been added to the medieval festival this year.
